Kids growing wild at Thurnscoe Reservoir
School children from The Hill Primary School will be joining Big Local Thurnscoe volunteers and the Twiggs ground maintenance team on Monday 20th March to plant out over 400 saplings at Thurnscoe Reservoir.
The trees were awarded by the Woodland Trust to help Big Local Thurnscoe with their green space efforts which also include providing a pond-dipping platform for children to use and planting out wild flowers and hanging baskets along the main streets of the village.
Development Worker Alison Vint said;
‘ We are hoping for a great turn out from the community to support our efforts at the Reservoir. The wild harvest trees will look really attractive and we hope will encourage more birds to visit the site. Big Local Thurnscoe has an ambitious programme of green space activity this year and we welcome any support from local residents.’
Anyone wanting to help out can come along to Thurnscoe Reservoir on Monday 10-12 or 1-3pm. Further details from Alison on 07557 740330.
