Let it Shine in 2021
The Big Local Thurnscoe partnership are delighted to be working once more in partnership with Station House, the Dearne Area Team and other community partners to bring together a new project to kick off 2021. ‘Let it Shine’ is a new initiative to support families in Thurnscoe who may be finding things hard in the New Year.
The project will supply a fantastic cleaning pack full of essential products to 40 families in Thurnscoe. The whole focus is on giving families who may be struggling after the Christmas period a little boost- the packs include laundry products, a cleaning caddy, toilet rolls and tea/ coffee and biscuits all packaged into a laundry hamper.
Referrals have been taken from local groups and agencies to make sure that the packs are reaching families who will really benefit from the extra help, and deliveries will be made in a Covid-secure way by local company Evolution.
The project has received financial backing from Keepmoat Homes whose Corporate & Social Responsibility Manager Mark Burley had this to say in support of the project;
At Keepmoat we understand this time of year can be extremely challenging for families on low incomes, that is why in partnership with Big Local Thurnscoe and Sanctuary Housing we are proud to support the LET IT SHINE campaign”.
The project has also received the backing of local MP John Healey who will attend the official launch on Friday 5th February alongside Chair of Big Local Derek Bramham and Development Worker Alison Vint.
John Healey, MP for Wentworth and Dearne, said:
There are many families who are really struggling during this pandemic. They’ve seen their income fall and they’re having to spend more on bills. I’m proud to support the Let It Shine project and hope it will be some help. I want to thank Big Local Thurnscoe and the organisations they’re working with for all they are doing to try to help local people who are struggling as a result of Covid-19.”
Our additional support measures, the Thurnscoe Enterprise Fund and Thurnscoe Relief Fund will continue to run throughout this latest period of lockdown and we encourage local groups and entrepreneurs to check out the relevant links on our website for further information.
